Wash all new diapers before first use. This will sanitize them and make them more absorbent.

For soiled diapers:

Machine wash cold, short cycle. Use 1/4 of recommended detergent.

Machine wash hot, long cycle. Use 1/4 of recommended detergent.

Second Rinse, optional

Dry in dryer or line dry. Aplix will be less pilly if you line dry. 

Prepping prefolds

Prefolds require several washings before they become quilty and absorbent. The more you wash, the more absorbent they become. Unbleached prefolds require more preparation due to the natural oils present on the cotton. Wash the prefolds on hot a minimum of 5 times following the pattern wash, wash, dry. Do not wash the prefolds with any other diapers when prepping them. After the prefolds have been prepped it is okay to include them in your normal wash routine.
